Hat-mosphere

A Panama hat is a traditional brimmed hat made from the plaited leaves of the toquilla straw plant. Despite its name, the Panama hat actually originates from Ecuador, where it has been made for centuries by skilled artisans. Our hats are woven by hand and can take many weeks to create, with the finest hats being made from the thinnest and most tightly woven strands of toquilla straw.

Amor y Mezcal Panama hats are known for their lightweight and breathable qualities, which make them perfect for warm weather.

about our products

The material we use

Our product are made in Toquilla. Toquilla is a type of palm plant that is native to the coastal regions of Ecuador. The leaves of the toquilla palm are used to make the famous Panama hat, which is known for its lightness, flexibility, and durability.

Where we produce

The toquilla palm has been cultivated in Ecuador for centuries, and its leaves have traditionally been used to make a variety of other woven goods as well, including baskets, mats, and bags.

A cultural symbol

In addition to its practical uses, the toquilla palm is also considered an important cultural symbol in Ecuador, and its leaves are featured in many works of art and handicrafts produced by local artisans.
